How Little Cindy came to be...

I was reading Susan Anderson's book, The Journey from Abandonment to Healing, and really liked the idea of talking to Little Cindy, who is the pure emotional self, aged 3-5 years.  This evolved into one of my new Sindy dolls becoming Little, with her own room, bed, Teddy, and friends –all from the 1960s and early 70s, when I was growing up.  Her room is a shelf in a small bookcase, but it's a magical world of healing old hurts and moving into the adult I'd like to become.

This is how Little's room has evolved so far...

When she arrived, Little Cindy quickly made friends with Honey Cuddles (aka Little Ted).  There was only a wardrobe and a side table - and a tea tray, so at least she could have a cuppa before bed...

"What was that flash?" asked Little Ted.

The new bed arrived, and what a joy to behold -the first issue Sindy bed from 1966...

"This is more like it," sighed Little Cindy, snuggling up to Ted.

It didn't look right, though, with that ugly wall at the back of the bookcase.  I wanted it to be a pretty, vintage, child's room...

"I really like this," said Ted, looking around the room.

I remember having a framed print of Our Lady of the Immaculate Heart on my wall as a child, probably a gift for my First Holy Communion.  I decided the walls needed some artwork...

"That's even better," whispered Little Ted.

Next week, some friends visit...
